    3. Some of you are new listers some of you are older listers and some of you are senior listers But I wonder if any of you recall the Pyramid Graveyard or Monument Graveyard which is located in what was once called monument lane, Arklow .................. well if I said Old Kilbride would that shake your memory.............It holds many names linked to the beginnigs of Arklow, and it laid in chest high nettles for such a long time and the stones were being removed, and taken to be made into tables etc. My first visit there to look for the Brass family, had me climbing trees, and buying camomile lotion for nettle stings, a long time after the visit there. I then took up the battle with the Wicklow council to save the Monument, along with others in the town, but I never gave up, along with the keeper of the graveyard Patrick Nagle we have cornered politicians, been given the brush off, and still gone back to battle, the keepers of the coins, today, I received a message............" we have WON" 28,000 euros has been allocated to the progect with more to be put in next year. Steeple jacks at present busy on a church in the town are to take a look at the monument This week, which is a Pyramid structure to see what needs doing, and we are hoping work will begin on it shortly, and along with the monument we are hoping they will repair the Howard Vault, another valuable piece of history being vandalised and left to ruin. The graveyard is now kept in a tidy state since Patrick took it over, but this has all been done with him out of pocket, but if you are looking for a stone in Old Kilbride hes your man to show you where it is, and he can tell you to the last stone how many stones lay there now. So this time We win one, so that is one down and one to go- gives me hope for the second one I would like to see looked after, although this is a graveyard alone and a ruined church none other than my beloved Castlemac, but I for one am happy to see this monument get the money spent upon it. Its a superb piece of Architect and although the graveyard held many stones, there are hardly any left there now, .......... Am I thrilled ..........well words dont describe it folks .........but I love it ~the keeper of the coins has had to part with some of them, makes you feel real warm all over ..........means that in time to come, you may all be able to see this monument in its pristine condition rather than a mass of rocks being taken over by the ivy. Cheers Cara
