Apparently it was the same gate-house that Bob had visited but I wasn't able to tell him very much about what he had missed apart from the fact it was a way of getting to the alleged second meetings of the water, a short distance downstream of which, by the way, there are increasing numbers of sea trout being caught and sightings of salmon (and not all of the mechanical type either). I could have told him about the abundance of nearly tame pheasants that seem to be trained to leap into the jacket pockets of innocent locals strolling through the woods at dusk, but Bob probably wouldn't have believed all that. I was able to point towards a couple of web sites that mentioned Ballyarthur and the Bayley family, I am sure that Bob as well as myself would be pleased to hear more information relating to this estate and its history.
