My wife¹s ggg grandnmother is Ellen McEVOY (1802-1870), a convict transported from Wicklow to New South Wales, Australia in 1830 aboard the ship Asia¹. According to her Certificate of Freedom, Ellen¹s trial took place in Wicklow in March 1829. Apparently the exact date was 7 March 1829. Ellen could read, had worked as a cook, and her offence was stealing butter. The sentence was for seven years. She was accompanied on her journey to Australia by an infant son James, born about 1828 in Great Britain, presumably Wicklow. Could someone tell me please whether any records exist in terms of transcripts of trials that took place in 1829? Also, is there likely to exist any record of a birth or christening for James? Cheers, Steven
