Thanks for your answer, David. I think I lodged most of that information, but I now have doubts about its authenticity. Mind you, that information about Patrick's place and date of birth were sent to me by a native of the Clogher area, who had very kind in checking for me in the Church records, for which I was very grateful. You would think that, in those days, it would be more likely that both parties to the marriage would come from the same place or close to. Many thanks for emailing me Regards Irene R Rees/Dowsett Family Page http://tribalpages.com/tribes/Brent44 -------Original Message------- From: David Griffiths Date: 01/13/06 13:12:27 To: IRL-WICKLOW-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Wicklow] RATH, Patrick Dear Irene I found this on FamilySearch Pedigree Resource File: Individual Record FamilySearchT Pedigree Resource File Suggest you go back to church records for baptism records or to Death records for place of birth. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Patrick Rath Compact Disc #42 Pin #820604 Sex: M ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Event(s): Christening: 27 Apr 1796 Place: Clogherhead Co. I may be able to add more light on the surname, RATH not in Wicklow but in Wexford I have no idea what happened to Davids reply the gremlins ate my mail and it appears folk its been eating a lot of my mails. Cute little gremlin that eats mails for hire to anyone who wants him/her going cheap. SO if you have been waiting on a mail from me ask the Gremlin what he did with the mails So Now the new year has reached us and almost half way into 2006, I feel it must be time to ask all those listers doing research to once again take a punt and place their names down the list............ please in the subject line place your surnames in CAPITALS and in the body of your mail any new leads, requests or indeed just tell me you are still looking Or if you are all feeling brave enough a few words about yourself, why you entered into family reseach, a light bit of humour about your family......... So lets get it rolling folk, we have an under used list these days, and just because I am not annoying you on a daily base doesnt mean I am not interested in where you have reached in your family research. Stay sane Cara
An ancestor of Thomas Saul & Martha Nee Manning is visiting Ireland from USA latter this year. He is wanting to talk to any Saul of his line. This not as simple as he first thought, for in 1958 the last Male member of the family in the British Isles died. A Memorial on the North wall of St Savior's church Reads: "In Memory of Joseph and Anne Saul and their daughter Hannah Mary. Members of a family who worshipped in and supported this church for at least four Generations. This tablet was erected by Thomas Alfred, the last Male member of the family in the British Isles. Ad 1800-1960" What he Needs is to find any of the female line of above. Can you help?
Responding to Cara's invitation, Still trying to find any info from the Wicklow end re my GG/Grandparents Alexander and Mary TOOLE. They arrived in Adelaide, South Australia on the NASHWAUK on 1855/05/14. While this particular ship's manifest does not clearly identify family groups, there is considerable evidence that the other TOOLEs in the adjoining entries were their children: Margaret 22. Eliza 21 (my G/Grandmother), Mary 19, Denis 17 and Teresa 14. All of these folk are shown as being selected from Wicklow. It was some form of assisted passage thus the term "Selected". I have been able to construct a fairly complete picture of these folk in SA - albeit with some important gaps - but would love to build the picture back into Ireland. While I have not found any evidence of the use of "O'.." in Australian records, they may well have been known as O'TOOLEs in Ireland. Happy New Year to one and all. Brian DOWNIE Melbourne, Australia
