Eileen - Yes, Gina's story was good to read and, off-list, Gina sent a time frame of 1812 for birth of a Michael Kavanagh, 1875 for birth of a Thomas Kavanagh and 1903 as date of completion of Fastnet Lighthouse. Dates are essential in any genealogical records and also in historical writing. Thanks you very much for your marriage records below. My search concerns the period around and before 1851, time of immigration for our family. We don't know where our immigrant was born (nor exactly when), don't know if we are aware of all siblings, don't know parentage, don't know who came to U.S. and who stayed, etc. Don't know a lot! So dates to me are of the essence. Thanks to Gina for a lovely story and fascinating insight into Wicklow history and thanks for sharing it on the Wicklow List.
