Happy New Year Cara and listers Thanks for the invitation to once again post our Co Wicklow interests. I'm still searching for my gg grandparents William WHATELY and Hannah WHITE. According to the LDS Family Search site they were married in 1833 in the Province of Leinster, Diocese of Ossory. It was spelled WHEATLEY and I found it by accident. Now I am open to all spelling variations. The family over here pronounced it "Wait-ley." They had nine children - all but one emigrated to the US and Canada. Deborah stayed in Ireland and married Benjamin HORAN in the Parish of St Peter, City of Dublin in 1862. Debbie and Ben's address was 4 Kildare Place, Parish of St. Anne, Eadstown, Co Wicklow. Witnesses were Thomas and Jane Alexander. The other children were Thomas, William, Catherine, Elizabeth, Alice, George, Hannah and John - my great grandfather who was born in Kyle, Co Wicklow in 1855. Other towns mentioned byt he family are Kiltegan and Baltinglass. I recently learned that the son Thomas was with the Dublin police force for a short time before coming to Canada. And I found some military records for a William WHEATLEY who signed up in 1820 with the 19th Foot Regiment in Dublin and served until 1831. He was from Hacketstown which I understand is in both Co Wicklow and Co Carlow . . . .??? Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this - hope to hear from a cousin out there soon! Stephanie, Read your email on Wheatley's in the hopes that the Thomas was b. 1855 and the William was born 1859 and the father was an Edward with the mother being an Ellen Carr. For some reason either the dates are in error or the assumptions appear to be twisted? Had some emails that Heatley = Wheatley ?????
