Dear Barbara, If you are beginning your research at the National Archives Dublin, you are beginning in the correct place, the reel you will need of course is the Rathdrum reel and you will need much patience to read it, as it is a very poorly written reel, and the time frame you will be needing is towards the end of the reel .............. You also have the added fact that at the Dublin Library you have a wonderful group of researchers there to give you great guides and leads, and they are far more equipped to help you there, you have of course a mighty job ahead of you with the BYRNE name being involved with it. Now where dates slightly differ between sometimes the IGI and parish registers between shipping records, births and baptismns is that LDS tend to use what date they have gleaned it may be a birth, a christening or a baptism date so that may allow for some days out, Shipping records also are confusing in as much as some parents lowered the childs age to get a cheaper fare - even their own depending upon if they were paying for the ticket or indeed an agent for a bounty scheme was paying the fare. The of course death dates DO vary on Irish headstones, if the child was born to an illiterate family, whose only record of the birth is what the clergy wrote in the register, or if it was unregistered then a birth might be remembered simply as ABOUT that time. But I honestly feel if you are seeking a RC family you are beginning your search in the correct place, on the microfilms for the area at the Dublin Library . Allow yourself plenty of time dont think it can be done in five minutes and I feel you will reap your rewards. Of course this will only happen if MIss Kennedy was from the parish of Rathdrum..............men married the women as a rule in their parishes. Good luck and keep us informed Cara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara BABBITT" <mhsnj60@msn.com> To: <IRL-WICKLOW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 03, 2006 7:21 AM Subject: Re: [Wicklow] Byrne > Hi Sharon, > > My gg-grandmother was Mary Burns/Byrne b. abt. 1823.
