Dear Listes and Archive hunters I have this common family within my data base files, they are as common as common can be, but my main concern is if one marries the other what will they name the children for example If Miss ? married Mr Unknown would she have a quantity of questionable children or would the children remain Unknown quantities with a questionable background. Now we all have these in our files Mr and Mrs Unknown and Mr and Mrs ? How do we solve this dilemma well as I am in the pickle jar with all of you and cannot figure this out alone, perhaps if we began the hunt for these unknown maiden names and parents ON LIST might solve some of our UNKNOWN and QUESTIONABLE families. So I am going to list some of my unknown in the hope that someone if not on this list -as a lister- but in the future while foraging in the archives someone may find this mail and assist me I will be forever grateful for any assistance given.......... I will begin with SOME of my unknowns and if anyone else is having the same problem then list yours as well we may have the hidden piece I dont know I cant find mine alone sitting here wondering what to do next........... invent them a married name -----------no thats not my style 1-Henry Earls married Miss Unknown circa 1823 and I have listed four children they have been lucky enough to be lists as Earls 2- William Sherwood married Miss Unknown circa 1840's and has four children noted they are lucky they are known as Sherwoods. 3-William Moody married Miss Unknown and is deceased by his daughter Charlottes wedding in 1866 Charlotte marrying a Peter Jackson 7/6/1866 at Dunlavin 4-William Fenelon married Miss Unknown and has Timothy Fenelon I know who Timothy married and when but nothing more on his mummy or their date of marriage ( Parents) 5-John O'Neil married Elizabeth Unknown and has a Michael Oneil who married Dorothy Toole what was Michaels mothers maiden name? 6-William Hudson married Jane Unknown and one child listed is Jane Hudson died at Ballykeane Co Wicklow Ireland 7- Christopher Cullen married when ? Catharine Unknown and they had Sarah baptised 22/1/1792 in the Avoca Parish now who was her mother before marriage Miss ? 8- Edward Gregory married Darky Unknown and by Nov 1825 they had a son named John in the Parish of Avoca what was Darkys maiden name and who were her parents were their other family members ? 9- Edward Doyle born circa 1781 and died 20 Oct 1860 Ballintemple hitched his wagon to Miss Eelanor Unknown and she poor lady had died by 16 Sept 1892 also at Ballintemple Buried with them is their son Patrick born circa 1836 died 1921. 10-Colcough Byrne son of James And Ann Griffin married Miss Eliza Unknown and had a mess of children they wer lucky they have the surname Bynres ( so do about a million others in Co Wicklow) Colclough was born in the Avoca Parish and died at Ballyrogan give me his wifes maiden name and I may be able to assist you with some of the childrens names fair swap I would think So if anyone stumbles upon any of the answers I need for the above ten and is willing to assist me either on the list or by sending me an email at this address or if someone stumbles upon this mail in the archives the email is still current cracker@hotkey.net.au I will be only to happy to share data that I have compiled over the many years of researching Co Wicklow.
