Hi everyone: I am new to this sight and hope someone can help me out. My grandma, Annie Fennell (1861) was born and raised in Holdenstown, Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow area with rest of her siblings. I have info on them. Some of the siblings were listed as being born in Baltinglass or Rathvilly. Her parents were Henry Fennell born around 1846-7 in Mayo, Co Queens/Laois. His father was William Fennell (b. about 1824) and wife Elizabeth________ born about 1817 and died 1910. Her mother was Dorcas Jones born 1844 and died 1929-30. Her parents were Robert Jones and Rebecca Carpenter - living in the Baltinglass area. Dorcas had a cousin with the last name Williams. Dorcas inherited the home place plus Mt. Kelly. Later she bought Ballybeg in Rathvilly, Co. Carlow. Her daughter Elizabeth Fennell Salter owned Ballybit, Co. Carlow. I am looking to find more complete info on above as well as siblings of Dorcas and Henry, cousins, aunts and uncles. I believe my Fennell and Jones family may have originated in England and settled in the area. Maybe even getting some of the land in Ireland from the English because of their military services..... The family was well off and were Protestant. I would also like to have more info on the battle at Castlecomer, co Kilkenny I think from the 1700s. It is said that some of my Fennel and/or Jones family were in that battle. Thanks for any help you can provide. Carol Synnott Nelson
