    2. William Fox
    3. Still seeking information on my FOX ancestry; specifically my gggrandfather whose given name is either WILLIAM or ARTHUR (or some combination of these) FOX. 1800-1850 WILLIAM FOX, is listed in 1869 civil marriage certificate as father of ROBERT FOX (1839-1904) my ggfather; however, ROBERT's first son was named ARTHUR and subsequent children were named in the traditional order. The fourth son, my grandfather is WILLIAM FRANCIS FOX, Uncertain as to religion; his son ROBERT was married in the RC chapel of Bray Rathmichael2 and is buried in a RC cemetery in Philadelphia, PA. USA and many of ROBERT's children were baptized at St. Patrick's RC church in Wicklow City. There are FOX records or gravestones in both Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland parishes in Kilpoole, Dunganstown, Kilquade and Wicklow City. WILLIAM'S occupation listed on the cited marriage certificate is "steward". There is no mention of WILLIAM's area of residence but his son ROBERT's place of residence is listed as Ballinapark. There are 2 townlands named Ballinapark: one in Castlemacadam civil parish, near Avoca, and the other in Rathnew civil parish an area just to the north of Wicklow City. There is no evidence that WILLIAM emigrated. Although there is absolutely no evidence, Family lore is that WILLIAM FOX was in some way connected to Avondale residence of Parnell family, perhaps a steward. Parnell used the named MR. Fox, reportedly the name of his steward, in his trysts with Kitty.
