People seem to be overlooking the fact that the Arklow R.C. parish registers are on microfilm at the National Library in Dublin and that they are freely available for consultation there. If you can't get there physically your option is to engage the services of a professional researcher. I recommend that you engage a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland (but not me!) www.apgi.ie because membership involves accreditation and there is a complaints investigation procedure should you be unhappy with the research. Of course, you would be paying a fee (calculated on an hourly basis) but then you're getting a professional service, not asking someone unfamiliar with parish registers and genealogical research to dip into the register for you. I have to add that I have never had occasion to contact the P.P. of Arklow so I cannot comment on his general humour. But, if his unwillingness to co-operate with family history enquirers was in some way fuelled by his trust being abused by someone who secretly photocopied the registers while being given access to them, he has my sympathy.
