What ever happened to German Finlay b.1 Feb 1784, Donoughmore Parish, Ballinabarney, whose father, Thomas was piked to death on Ballinabarney Bridge after the Battle of Hacketstown in 1798. What was so special/tragic? about him that the name Germaine/German has carried down through the descendants of his siblings and is still in use today?? Any help would be most appreciated. Susan
