Hello All. I have hit a dead end and am hoping someone might be able to assist. I have a lot of data on the Irish family from Canada but little back in Ireland. My Great Aunt, Bessie (Beatty) Skuce started the family history and left her original book with me. She went to Ireland many times to visit family and she has pictures of Wicklow but little of who those people were. John Beatty born about 1770 - stayed in Ireland Daniel Beatty born about 1778 - went to Canada 1818 - married to Jane Smith I have a copy of a letter from John Beatty, Shelton, Ireland on the 24th April 1844 to Michael Beatty, Bytown, North America: Of Daniel's neighbour, Thomas Allen, he and his wife and family live in Calliece near Rathdrum and have upwards of 50 acres. Pieces family are all well, 3 live in Rathdrum, second eldest Thomas keeps a shop, George and Michael are blacksmiths. Mick is not married but works with his brother George, the eldest son. John is married to a daughter of Nick Bowlands and lives in Mungawn. Henry is married lately to a daughter of Dan Halls and is inclined fro America. Thomas Smith lives in Thomastown (perhaps this is a relative to Jane) His eldest daughter is Admiral Proby's dairy maid in Poulahone. The second eldest married to a carpenter, a son of Owen Ryans (Owen is dead) His eldest son is married and lives on a farm near Arklow. One son and daughter live with him, the youngest son is a clerk to Mr. Gregory of Arklow. Joel or Joal Hale and 1 of his sisters lives in Kilearra. One sister is a cook with Admiral Proby but married the butler. Denis Cavanagh is well. One son is a smyth and lives with Pierce in Rathdrum, his eldest son Mat lives in Mungawn. Jack Bryan and Old Paul Ruffsee alive and well. Thom Pierce died as did his young Tom. Jack Death is in the poor house in Rathdrum. Nanny Death still living. John had 3 sons & 3 daughters. The eldest John married an Arklow girl and has a school near Newry. The next son is a gardener and the youngest, Alar is in the police. The eldest daughter lives near Dublin, twice married. The second is married to a slater named Carty and lives in Arklow. The youngest has a school from Miss Proby. I am hoping that something can narrow this to an area where I could check graveyards and church records. John was Anglican as was Daniel. Jane I am not sure of. Any help or insight very much appreciated. Sorry so long first time, just excited for another potential connection. And this is only the Wicklow connection. Charlene
