Dear Cara, Thanks for your email this morning with subject on being a List Admin. Firstly, I would like to say that I pay tribute to you for being such a caring, helpful person, giving so much of your time sharing with those of the list with Wicklow ancestors. I have had much help from you myself with suggestions and information but unfortunately, and probably due to my lack of real understanding of how to connect information, I am still muddling on and endeavouring to find more details. My grandmother, Catherine KEOGH married John Shannon at St.Marys Cathedral, Sydney on 18 January, 1867 and from the copy of their marriage cert. I have Catherine's parents as Dermot Keogh and Anne Toomey of County Kildare. I have the Griffiths Val. for KEOGH and find many names there but don't know how to find the correct line. Many KEOGH's have come to Australia and I have found them living around the Glebe and inner city suburbs. My grandmother, Catherine KEOGH came to Australia in 1862 on the "Northumberland" and with her on the same ship is her brother, John KEOGH. Catherine is shown as coming from Wicklow whilst John is shown as Hollywood, Wicklow. Their brother Patrick came to Sydney on "British Trident" in 1861 and on the Deposit Journals I found that he had paid the deposit for Catherine and John. He is shown as having an occupation of Policeman on the shipping list. Years back I had help from a person on a list who went to a lot of trouble to find the nearest church to the KEOGH address and gave me the name of the parish, Naas where they would have belonged. I did write the Parish Priest asking if he could give me wedding details for Dermot and Anne KEOGH (Toomey) but had no reply. Later on I found an Anne KEOGH as being a landowner in the Griffiths Vals. and then found that after then, Anne KEOGH came to Sydney and is shown as living in the same area as many other KEOGH's. My mother was the last born of eight children to Catherine KEOGH, my mother being one of twins, the other dying at birth. I have found a lot of information on the family in Glebe, NSW but have never been able to find Dermot or Anne Toomey in Ireland. Catherine died when my mother was about 6years of age and was reared by her father who was a CAB Prop. with stables in the Glebe. I have submitted these details to lists, earlier but have had no replies except from you. Best wishes, Cara, and I avidly await all list correspondence in the hope of finding more details.
