Hi Deb... Don't know whether or not we have corresponded, but here's something that will interest you... Laurence Doyle married Bridget Foley 16 February, 1824 in the Rathdrum R. C. Church. The witnesses were Peter Foley and Margaret Reilly. The residence was listed as Ballycran. (I have a question mark next to the spelling of Ballycran). I have four Baptismal Records for their children: Hugh Baptized 18 October, 1825 - sponsors Peter Foley and Margaret Reilly Mary Baptized 10 July, 1827 - sponsors Andrew Byrne and Elizabeth Foley Thomas Baptized 30 April, 1829 - sponsors Michael Doyle and Mary Byrne Patrick Baptized 11 September, 1831 - sponsors Thomas Foley and Mary Fleming The microfilm page was in fairly bad condition, and hard to read in parts. Most of the residence entries were blank, but next to Hugh's record was written Munam__?? Also, Patrick's mother's name was listed as Bridget Foley/Tobin?. Again, Tobin is what I made out of it. I also have a Laurence, Baptized 24 November, 1833 to Laurence Byrne and Biddy Fahey or Foley (my notes indicate Fahey name was questionable and might be Foley). Sponsors for this child were Michael Byrne and Mary Reilly. All the above records were transcribed by me, from Microfilm # 6476 (National Library, Dublin). Rathdrum Church Records. I have a Marriage record for a John Doyle who married a Bridget Byrne 23 January 1837. The witnesses were: Catherine Thumpson and Elizabeth Foley, also a Rathdrum record. I pass it along only because one the witnesses was a Foley, and the year might be right. The residence was listed as Ballycreen. note: Laurence and Bridget Foley's daughter Mary's sponsor was an Elizabeth Foley. That's all I have at the moment. Hope this helps, Peggy Leonard/NY
There is a family of this name spelt with many variables in the area Peggy so you may have transcribed correctly the first time. FAHEY/FAHY Cheers Wedding over or not Peg CARA
I have an Andrew Byrne in my tree too. He was a farmer in Kiltegan when his daughter was Anne was born in 1868. She eventually moved to Dublin and married an Edgeworth. Mark
Mark wrote >I have an Andrew Byrne in my tree too. I have 11 Andrew Byrnes in my file but the first I wish to make a query on is Andrew Byrne .............father of Ellen .............Ellen married John Mates in the parish of Redcross in January 1849 and had these two girls that I know of Dorothy had a private Baptism at Kilmacoo Dinah was also baptised at Kilmacoo Now poor Andrew has no wife with him and thats a shame anyone missing an Andrew with an Ellen born possibly around 1820 and who is Ellen Byrnes father in law ...........father of John Mates ----- well I can tell you it is Edward but once again the poor man has no wife I am seeking any details on the Mates family as there is many lines whether I can link them all into the one family will remain to be seen, BUT mybrick wall does at least have a bit of weakended mortar in it ...........where I have been grazing my knuckles trying to get over this wall. I am so lucky it is not one of those wonderful, dry stone walls you see in Ireland, because I would never be able to get through one of those, they stand like the sentinels of time. Cheers Cara
