Hi from the wilds of Northumberland I have recently joined, and as there has been a burst of activity have been spurred on to post my request. I would welcome any information or suggestions of where to go next.. My gggrandfather Isaac Hunter was born in Carnew ~ 1804 ( bit of a shock the family were convinced he came from Scotland). This has been confirmed by army records. He enlisted in Dublin in the 28th Foot and ended up in Australia where three of his children were born ( confirmed). He was discharged 1842 and it was presumed he went back to Australia where my ggrandfather was born as he always gave his birth place as Syndey NSW - but I can't confirm this. I was however surprised to find an Isaac Hunter in Griffith's Vauation of Tenements as renting house and land in the parish of Mullincuff 1854. If it was his father he would have been getting on - or did Issac not treturn to Australia and come back to Wicklow after leaving the army ( and did my gGrandfather lie about his place of birth). If you are still with me ...is there anyway of getting any further?. Is anyone looking for Hunters ( not a very Irish name)? My son is marrying an Irish girl in Dublin this summer - so I will be coming over. Is there anywhere I could go to find out further info? Thinks for listening, Sylvia
