    3. Hello Pete, I've been reading your geography items for several years on quite a few Irish lists. I live in the town of Clarence in Erie County which borders Lancaster. Don't hesitate to contact me for Buffalo area lookups. As a member of the Western New York Genealogical Society I go to the Buffalo and Erie County library once a month as a genealogy volunteer to assist newsiest and folks from out of town with local genealogical research questions. In addition to the federal censuses, NY State conducted censuses in Western NY in 1855, 1865 (very helpful for Civil War vets), 1875, 1892 (a good substitute for the lost 1890 federal census), 1905,1915, and 1925. The NY censuses have not been indexed. The Belo library has them all as well as extensive local cemetery and church records. Regards, Tom O'Hare, in glorious flat-as-a- pancake Clarence, New York.
