    3. The list does seem a bit slow at the moment - maybe after christmas when families have been together someone will have or want some new information, and everything will all start up again! There is a new website set up by a lady in England for the Hanbidge family - it is early days yet, but hopefully it will become a really useful site. The address is www.hanbidge.webeden.co.uk I hope that everybody has a very happy christmas, Susan Researching: Wicklow (West) : Eager, Finlay, Hanbidge, Collins, Weybourne, Lawrence, Hanbidge Antrim: McClure, Christie, Craig Londonderry: Doak, Cowan, McCloskey, Hamilton, Gurney Donegal: Marshall, Reid, Arbuckle

    3. Hello Susan, Noted your remarks re Wicklow Mailing List. I also had a look at the -----Original Message----- From: Susan Marshall [mailto:susan_e_marshall@hotmail.com] Sent: Friday, December 09, 2005 7:24 PM To: IRL-WICKLOW-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [Wicklow] re mailing list and look forward to the return of entries on same. My mother's mother, Catherine Keogh from County Wicklow married John Shannon, Cty. Cavan in Sydney at St.Benedicts RC Broadway, Sydney in 1867. I found that Catherine Keogh came to Aust. in 1862 with her brother John Keogh, on ship "Northumberland" in 1861 and also found on Shipping List that her brother Patrick came out in l861 on "British Trident". The Deposit Journals show that the deposit for both Catherine and John were paid by their brother. Patrick Keogh. I have not been able to find where John Shannon arrived in Sydney but as I have a copy of their marriage certificate, he did come to Aust. They all settled in Glebe and on many documents John Shannon was a Cab.Proprietor although I have never found any documents to verify this although he did have stables in Franklyn Lane, Glebe as I found in a directory which I looked through at the library. My mother was the last of 8 children born to John and Catherine and was a twin born 1881 in Glebe, her twin sister Maria shown on the registers to have died and I think this must have been either at birth or shortly afterwards. All of the children were born in Glebe St. Glebe as were my parents and their 10 children also born Glebe. My father's name was Augustus George Veness. Thank you again and wishing you the blessings of the Christmas Season. Shirley Parker.
