I learn from O'Hart's 'Irish Pedigrees' that O'Maoinein [monneen] was anglicised to Mannin, Manning, Mannion and Richey. Does anyone know the early roots of the Mannings of Wicklow? Frank Kehoe
Dear Frank Kehoe You ask Does anyone know the early roots of the Mannings of Wicklow? This what I have been trying to work out for many years. We know ( see http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/djgriff/) that the family was in Rathdrum from 1707 from church of Ireland records, but where before that. As they were tenants of Fitzwilliam it points that they were planted.may be from Yorkshire I would be interested in all leads. Regards Dave
