    3. Golding, I am very aware that Wexford is in Ireland, just below Wicklow. Most of my ancestry comes from Wicklow, Galway and Tipperary. I am also very aware that the English did not bestow very much Christian charity at all on the Irish. The change to the Irish custom of leaving land to the eldest son, which was disallowed in the Penal Laws, was forced on the Irish under the belief that within three generations no Irish Catholic would have enough land on which to grow enough food to sustain a family and thereby provide an end of all these troublesome Irishmen. How Christian is that? The English have a lot to answer for in Ireland, and the Church of England had a lot to answer for in England, as well as the countries it consumed - Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Much easier and politically correct to say that God called the little one home, rather than admit that the poor little bugger starved to death for want of food, or froze to death from want of a roof over his head. And that still applies in many countries around this good Earth of ours!!! To some extent, the poor in England had a slightly better than none chance of surviving due to the good ladies doing their Christian duty. And Seasons Greeting to you too Barbara
