Hi Folks Seasons greetings to all I have included three counties as it appears many enquiries relate to these three and a huge amount of Volunteer work has been done for these three counties and for all the other counties in Ireland . In order to have an appreciation of what we are about as 'listers' it might be helpful to have a look at the Rootsweb.com website to understand the purpose. It states " The Primary Purpose & Function of Rootsweb.com is to connect people so they can help each other and share genealogical research " Also..... Volunteer: RootsWeb hosts many of the largest volunteer genealogy projects on the Internet. Volunteers locate, transcribe, and publish genealogical data and help new users. Through this work they meet other genealogists with similar interests. You will find a listing of some volunteer efforts on RootsWeb's main page and in our website registry. Your own interests may lead you to others." So it is a 'give' & 'take' situation where we are expected to share our research with others who are searching and especially new searchers to give them direction and guidance. There are many listers who do this. But it seems others have an expectancy . We all have acquired knowledge and sklls built up over the years of painstaking research so we must not 'hide our light under a bushel' . I am just an ordinary 'lister' and I am most grateful for the resource(s) provided by all the volunteers who spend much time recording text and photos of headstones from graveyards and cemeteries and also helping with geography, place names etc. . Looking forward to much exchange over the next year and well into the future and hope we can all help each other in the process. Cheers ..........Golding
