    3. Hi Valerie Fedsweed Jacob, born 1821, was the third wife of Rev. Joseph Fawcett Beddy, one time missionary in India and later rector of St Thomas Church, Monmouth, Wales. They were married in Llandudno, Wales on the 18th October 1866. Joseph Fawcett died in June 1873 at Axbridge, Somerset, England. The England Wales Census of 1871 shows them living at Weston Super Mare, Somerset, England and the 1881 census shows Fedsweed living at 12 Sion Hill, Clifton Gloustershire - widow and landowner in Ireland. I have had a request from some one to trace Evadne Mary Elizabeth Beddy born about 1900 possibily Cuilleen, Roscommon. She married Leo Francis McCarthy about 1921 and they lived in Dublin. Apparently Evadne was a well written author under a pen name which is unknown. I have found a WWI war record for a Leo Francis McCarthy which shows his address as being 5 Beechwood Road, Ranelagh, Dublin. So far my "living" Beddy connections in Ireland have not been able to help. 3. Hi Valerie I have dug a little deeper. Fredweed was the daughter of Ebeneezer Jacob, Mayor of Wexford 1798, 1806 and 1809. Also MP for Dungarvan 1835 - 1837. I have found a letter from him re the rebellion and also a medal awarded by him, a mayor of Wexford, to one of the relieving forces, (photo attached) Kind regards Thomas 2008/12/4 Valerie garton <[email protected]> > Thanks for this Thomas. > > I will add to my info. > > Cheers for now from Valerie in sunny Sydney > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Thomas Beddy > Sent: Thursday, 4 December 2008 2:02 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [IRL-WICKLOW] Fedsweed/Fridzweed BEDDY > > Hi Valerie > > Fedsweed Jacob, born 1821, was the third wife of Rev. 3. Hello Cara I am just as mistified by Elinor Beddy. She appears in the Dublin Grant Book, which includes Rathnew Parish shows Elinor and Edward Johnson being married in 1774. Elizabeth and Patrick Culloden also appear as being married in 1798. You have now whet my appetite in tracing these Beddy links. I am pleased to say that I have at last managed to connect one of the Beddy immigrants to the USA to my branch of the family. My great grandfathers brother emmigrated to the States in the 1880's and through American Cencus records I have managed to trace living Beddy's in Florida. My next mission is to establish contact with them and hope that they can contribute to the Family Tree.
