I keep running up against a big brick wall in pursuing the line of my maternal great grandmother Catherine BARRINGTON, believed to have been born in Queen's County (from 1901 census) but later living in Rathdrum. >From the recently published Irish BMD index on Family Search I found the following details about the marriage of David EDGE and Catherine BARRINGTON: Reg District Rathdrum; Reg Date Jan-Mar quarter 1896......collection Ireland Civil Registration Indexes 1845-1958. On this basis I applied to Roscommon for a copy of the marriage certificate including the date 10/1/1896 and the place St Saviour's Church Rathdrum which, I think, I obtained a couple of years ago when visiting Rathdrum and looking at the parish records there. I have just received a note from Roscommon saying that after checking their records for the years 1895 to 1897 they have been able to find "no entry corresponding to the particulars given in your recent application". Can anyone on the list explain why this might be so? Richard White Tunbridge Wells Kent UK
