Hello List: I've posted a family tree to Rootsweb for my ancestral Masseys -- one of several Massey families from Delgany parish (mostly in Templecarrig Lower and Windgate townlands). The earliest ancestor I have evidence for is George Massey, b ~ 1787 although it should be possible to take this line back several generations. George and his wife Ann (Mahon, possibly from Wicklow Town) had five (possibly six) children who lived to adulthood. The elder two stayed in Ireland, the rest emigrated to Canada or US: Elizabeth (Eliza) Massey b 1823, married Samuel Fox, stayed in Wicklow James Blakeney Massey (my ancestor) b 1825, m Harriet Chapman, lived in Wicklow, Kerry, Gorey (Wexford), and Cork George Massey b 1832, m Ellen Harris in Ontario, Canada and lived in Port Carling, Ontario Jane Massey, b 1834 m Edward Massey in Delgany and emigrated to Canada in 1855 and lived near London, Ontario Anne Massey b 1840, m Roger Mahon (from Derrylossary) in Canada and lived in Port Carling, Ontario Another likely brother is Enright Massey, b 1837, m Phoebe Morton in the US, lived in Nevada and California. Three of his children moved to Ontario as adults and lived close to their Delgany relatives. The Port Carling Masseys intermarried with a Mahon family (from Derrylossary) and a Harris family (possibly from Bray). http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=massey2009&id=I7 Is anyone else tracing the Wicklow Masseys? Cheers Annie
