Frank, Whatever that is you're looking at, it's not a civil birth record. There is no such thing as a sponsor on a civil record of birth. Is there a heading "Sponsor" on it? Where did you get it? What I have is the document one receives from the Irish Family History Foundation on line at www.brsgenealogy.com for the price of 5 Euro. The title is "Civil Birth Record for John Darcy." I think that Cara may have provided the correct reply.
