Hi Pauline, FYI, My ancestry is ARKLOW (Co. Wicklow) not Rathdrum but if you come across a: Daniel DOYLE - married Esther Phillips in Arklow Moved to South Island, New Zealand 1800s with 6 or 7 children (can possibly find out more if you want) Died (I believe) within 4 -5 years of being in NZ. Was a Fisherman (or something to do with Fisheries in Arklow). Daniel had brother/s who also left Ireland due to Potato Famine... one of whom is the original Doyle of 'Doyles Seafood Restaurant' in Sydney.... Not sure if this is helpful or not... If anyone else knows of this Daniel DOYLE and/or knows of any relatives in Ireland still (I am told we still have family there...) I would love to hear... Rachel Doyle :)

Hang on a minute, just because Rathdrum is mentioned doesnt mean that they were not registered at Rathdrum and still belong to Arklow Rathdrum was the registration district for all this area so dont dismiss the thought they may have Rathdrum attached to their place of birth. By the way also DOYLE are like grains of sand in Ireland many of them available And seeing as I have for 20 years been doing the DOyles of Tasmania, Wicklow, and surrounds I can assure you there are many to go through ....... The Phillips part intrigues me, this name appeared with the Doyles in Tasmania as well as within the are of Arklow and surrounds. Anymore on that name would be of interest to me.
