Cara I think they may have been Quakers originally - see IGP Archives, and the name EVES is/was to be found in Co. Wicklow for sure. Recently I transcribed a Headstone for a SAMUEL EVES PIM. Also quite a number listed on IGI. So it would appear to have been a name in its own right. Still in Telephone Directory. On the record on FamilySearch it gives the source, i.e. film no. etc. It seems (and I say this from other reseach done by me) that with some Canadian Death Records they give a lot of family information, something similar to Australian Death Certs.
