    1. [IRL-WICKLOW] VALENTINES - Glendalough Mining

    3. Hi Folks I think I have begun to crack another VALENTINE generation. Thomas V (of Donoghmore) married Charlotte MORRIS (of Ballynure) on 11 Oct 1833 in Ballynure. (This from a transcript of the register). One of the witnesses was ANDREW MORRIS. Perhaps her father or brother? Thomas and Charlotte lived in Roundwood from 1833 and the Derralossery registers are destroyed until about 1878 for baptisms and burials but exist from 1844 for marraiges. I have located 4 of their children from their marriage details (born about 1834, 1837, 1840 and 1847) However if you search Griffiths Valuation you find an Andrew Valentine living in a house near Laragh that was owned by the Mining Co. Of Ireland (along with about 30 others). The only other Andrew valentine I find died in 1885 (index of BMDs for Ireland) and it suggests he was born about 1835. This "lone" Valentine always puzzled me and I begin to wonder if he could have been a child of Thomas and Charlotte? I am wondering if anybody knows if there are any records for the miners around Glendalough? (I have seen others postings on this list about Aoca mines) Regards Brendan

    3. When I saw "MORRIS" my eyes perked up!! Now, if you happen across a MORRIS/BROWNRIGG connection (as in Jane and William), that's mine. Also, I strongly feel there is going to come to light a MORRIS/FEARON link.....perhaps all these are linked to VALENTINE! m Mary Villalba SS United States Conservancy Secretary, Board of Directors (303) 290-8415 Tele P.
