    3. Well there is many people on this list, active and in active, but they are all there, but as summer descends on whatever part of the world lists slow to an all time halt, this year I am on holiday, and not razzing the list to its full peak, but you stay with us and see what happens by the end of September, when I have myself back in my office, where I will be adding more papers to the already huge file that sits there gathering dust. Yes Robert right now we may be slow, but we wont be soon But on the point of Mahar - Herald and Cook although i did take a quick sweep of my data base i did not see the name Herald, but that is all that is traveling with me at the moment is my data base, not other books etc and parish registers. Mahar name is still found in Avoca and I would suggest just for an exercise you do look at the Co Wicklow IGP page and look at the headstone photos and transcripts on there to see if the name has been gleaned for that area and in the archives of that wonderful page. And be patient, this list would be one of the happiest lists I have ever had anything to do with for Ireland. The name Loftus is associated with Wexford as well did you know this? Cheers Cara exercising her very in holiday mode brain ---

    3. I am not an expert in shipping and immigration to the US but have you drawn a blank there? Most early emigrants departed from ports like Liverpool or Glasgow. Nor do I know much about US naturalisation but would they have applied for that, leaving a record? Do you know when or where Edward and Mary Ann died and their ages at death? Sometimes gravestones record place of origin and show age at death. What State/s were they in as US records can be very regional? Have you joined Herald or Mahar surname lists? - Cook would be more difficult but not impossible either. Unfortunately their Irish dates pre-date civil registration and you will probably need these other sources to narrow down your search. However Cara has given you some good leads in the Wicklow region. The search is what it is all about! -----Original Message----- From: irl-wicklow-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-wicklow-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Robert Herald Sent: Monday, 23 August 2010 12:05 AM To: irl-wicklow@rootsweb.com Subject: [IRL-WICKLOW] HERALD, COOK, MAHAR OK, Bill.
