Hello listers: Several of my Delgany, Wicklow Masseys emigrated during the famine. Two of them settled in Port Carling, Ontario, along with members of the Mahon family of Derrylossary and the Harris family of Bray and Delgany. Recently I visited the Port Carling cemetery and photographed quite a few headstones. Please contact me if you have any interest in these families and I'll happily forward the images off list. The Irish-born emigrants included: - George Massey (b abt 1836) and Anne Massey (b abt 1844) - brother and sister from Delgany - Roger Mahon (b abt 1844) - youngest son of James and Margaret Mahon who emigrated with five kids, from Derrylossary, during the famine. Most of the Mahons settled in West Nissouri in the London, Ontario region - Ellen Harris (b abt 1833, location not known) - Richard Charles Harris ( b abt 1841) and Olivia (Ashworth) Harris (b abt 1844) - Richard may have been Ellen's brother. He emigrated in 1886 with several Irish-born adult children including Richard Charles (b abt 1860), William (b abt 1863) , Frances Mary (b 1868 in Bray), Caroline Elizabeth (b 1869 in Delgany) and Robert (b abt 1870). Most of these folks are included in my Rootsweb tree: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=massey2009&id=I241 Annie
These headstones photos as they have Irish content would be most appreciated by the IGP Irish Archive site run by Christina Hunt, so I am wondering if you would be prepared to share them with her to put up for future reference for researchers Cheers Cara ________________________________ From: Annie Massey <annie.massey@rogers.com> To: Wicklow list <irl-wicklow@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sat, September 4, 2010 1:31:39 PM Subject: [IRL-WICKLOW] MASSEY, MAHON, HARRIS, ASHWORTH Hello listers: Several of my Delgany, Wicklow Masseys emigrated during the famine.
