We have just found some of the family in Kilkenny but we can't toss aside family lore that the Kealy/Roes came from Wicklow. Family lore is Enniskerry. We have found Bridget Kealy, a servant, marrying Thomas Ireland in Kilkenny. Not one of Bridget's family is in Kilkenny. Her parents are Patrick and Mary Ann Kealy. She has known sisters, Julia and Mary Ann. Mary Ann married John Roe and had 7 surviving children and this family emigrated to Canada by 1858 as an intact family. Julia went to Boston by 1855 most likely as a servant and married there in 1857. Based upon the names of the Kealy females' children, it is suspected that Frances, Emily, and Elizabeth are Kealy names. It is suspected that John, Robert, and Nicholas are Roe names, and George, and Edward are Kealy names. A connection of Thomas to other Irelands in Kilkenny is not proven. William is certainly an Ireland name. There is one instance of a Roe child stating he was born in Wexford. Wexford, Kilkenny, and Wicklow seem to form a triangle of habitation. The Kealy women seem to be born between 1812 and 1824. They marry about 1838-1848. The Irelands are still in Ireland through 1885, the Roes are gone by 1858. There had to be remaining Kealys including Bridget after 1880. Bridget is not known to have left Ireland. Does anyone recognize these names and may be connected? Any finds you know of will be appreciated. We have searched the Kilkenny site and have most of that. They are around Burnchurch and James Green. Bonnie in California

Judith Kealy was born circa 1805 in the Kilcommon Parish of Co Wicklow ( being the Kilcommon down Tinahely way) Griffiths :-http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/wicklow/kilcommon.htm does not mention a Kealy family but as Irish research can be fickle perhaps it did turn to Kelly. She married James Bulger born same parish. Just showing the name existed in Co Wicklow And another part of Wicklow shows a Catherine Kealy was married to one Edward Wall and was having children in Dunlavin by 1868. John Roe who married a lady named Elizabeth has a child named John Roe in September 1763 in Co Wexford Ireland this man died in Canada he was the gentleman who married Sarah Sherwood who was born in Co Wicklow and had 14 little Roe children, the townland I have found is Milshoe Co Wexford and some of these children also died in Canada. I have no idea if you are interested in this family of Roe, you will have to let me know With a name like this I wonder if it is attached to your family of Roe Mehetabel Roe I have of course more Roe families in my data base but not linking to the name Kealy at this given time. Happy to share if you have more input, and feel free to ask me for others I have if you think they may be relevant. Cheers today Cara
