Hi Michael. A marvellous site. I have a couple: Thomas HALPIN married Mary Ann DILLAN, respective fathers James Halpin and Thomas BUCKLY. The record comes from the Ireland Vital Records series at FamilySearch, giving the marriage at Powerscourt, Wick(low) on 18 April 1854. Thomas James Halpin was, or perhaps had been, a sea captain, born Wicklow Town in 1822. He had extensive family in Wicklow Town so I am not sure why he was in Powerscourt. His wife would seem to be a widow and perhaps Powerscourt is where she lived. His younger brother was Captain Robert Charles Halpin. His wife Mary Ann died at Enniskerry 10 years later, on 10 October 1864, according to an obit found in the Cork Examiner. Thomas died at Monastery House, Enniskerry, on 2nd June 1878, aged 56 according to a memorial inscription in the Halpin family burial enclosure at Wicklow Church. I would like to learn what Monastery House was. I doubt that he owned the house. Would he (or he and his wife) have lived in an apartment within, or in the grounds of, the house? If there are any local mentions of this man or couple I would be very pleased to see them.
