I have ancestors from Dunlavin as well. I contacted the RC church in Dunlavin at one stage, but unfortunately there was no record of the family I was searching for (McEvoy). I can't find the contact address I used, but found this online just now. Not sure if it is current or not, but here it is dunlavinparish@gmail.com Good luck with your search. Another person I have had contact with re the Dunlavin area is a man named Chris Lawlor. He has his own blog - http://dunlavin.blogspot.com/ He's very knowledgeable about the area. Kind Regards & good luck!! I have the record because I thought there might be a connection with my Doyle family - I have yet to determine whether Simon Doyle is a possible brother to my Gt grandfather Terence Doyle. Tracking my great grandparents--In reading on the Carlow info found a marriage listed thusly---Danny McGrath m. Katie Byrne----Bill and Mary Mannering--one son in USA I believe that Bill and Mary are my ggrandparents---they lived in Carlow when my grandfather was born--lived in Ballon and had according to the census four children---I know of only 3--baptized in the parish church there. James Joseph left at 19 to come to the US. Parish priest could find no marriage or death records of them. Could be that they are from and perhaps went back to Wicklow?? Any info helpful--info I have is from the late 1880's and early 90's. Thank you--joan
Hello Ian, Although I dont have your immediate family in my data base, I do have an Eliza Jordan I am trying to find information on, she was born around 1836 in Co WIcklow and died 29/3/1893 in Jamestown SOuth Australia. Kilaveney & Annacorra the parish you are asking about is in the Diocese of Ferns and therefore places it in Co Wexford, although sometimes in Co Wicklow depending upon who writes it in what parish register, so you will need to cover all odds by also checking on the border of Wexford. The Jordan name itself appearing in a lot of my research but originating from Wexford to Australia, I am not sure if I have assisted you, but am simply trying to make you aware you are in fact on a border parish and will need to look both sides of the the county lines. I also have the name Hayden in my data base but Thomas Haydon and Daniel come from the Parish of Avoca Anne Haydon comes from Kiltegan Maria Anna Casey who married John McEvoy had been married to a Unknown Haydon Rose Vickers married Mr. Haydon and all these do not lead to your family at this point in time. And you can also add in Haydon to the spelling of the name in Wicklow I did just want you to know that your mail is checked Cheers for the moment Cara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ian Westell" <ianhw@sympatico.ca> To: <IRL-WICKLOW@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 12, 2011 6:25 AM Subject: [IRL-WICKLOW] hayden/haeden > Seeking anyone with any connection or info on William and Mary > Haeden/Hayden (nee Neil)from around Tinahely Wicklow area. HiHave you looked at Griffiths Valuation http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation for your Michael Carr/Carr possibilities? Look also for the sponsors names as this might narrow your search. Annette Carlow and Wicklow share some parish registers, and this is what you have found out, when it says "Dublin Papers Copy" it simply meant that perhaps there was not a current paper in Wicklow, Carr family name figures very highly in the area you mention, plus down at Shilelagh, Cookenno and surrounds, it also can be found in Bray so therefore I feel you have located your family and the mothers name, was often changed by a priest who had became familiar with the family. Killaveny in actual fact is covered by Co Wexford so its neither Wicklow or Carlow although linked to both the registers are covered by Wexford. Sorry if I have muddied your waters further Yours Cara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Annette McLean" <dandamclean@ubernet.co.nz> To: <IRL-WICKLOW@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 21, 2011 8:50 AM Subject: [IRL-WICKLOW] CARR > Trying to find my CARR family from either Wicklow or Carlow. > > Richard CARR (my Gt. granddad) on joining the 65th reg. in Dublin in March > 1852, gave as his birth place/address as Ballyconnell, near Carlow, near > Dublin. he gave his age as 18. > > He sailed for NZ in 1864 on the ‘Egmont” > > On documentation here in NZ he has stated that his parents were Michael > CARR and Joanna FLEMING and that his father was a farmer. > > I have found on the Irish site a christening that I THINK is his: > > Richard CARR bapt./birth 29 Jan 1832. Trying to find my CARR family from either Wicklow or Carlow. Richard CARR (my Gt. granddad) on joining the 65th reg. in Dublin in March 1852, gave as his birth place/address as Ballyconnell, near Carlow, near Dublin. he gave his age as 18. He sailed for NZ in 1864 on the ‘Egmont” On documentation here in NZ he has stated that his parents were Michael CARR and Joanna FLEMING and that his father was a farmer. I have found on the Irish site a christening that I THINK is his: Richard CARR bapt./birth 29 Jan 1832. Address Mullens. Parish Killaveney, County Wicklow. Denomination R/C. Father Michael CARR. Mother Judith FLEMMING. Sponsors Peter FLEMING and Mary BYRNE. Also found bapt./birth for a John CARR 27 Mar 1828, same address, father Michael CARR and Joana FLEMMING. Sponsors Patt KEATING and Kate FLEMING and also Margaret CARR, same address etc, father Michael CARR and Jany FLEMING. Sponsors Pat FLEMING and Catherine FLEMING I think they are siblings. Does anyone know this family. Where did they live, Carlow or Wicklow? Was Michael a farmer and when and where did he and Joanna/Judith/Jany , live, be born, married, died? When Richard married in NZ his first born was named John, second son Michael and a daughter Margaret. In his death notice it had” Dublin papers please copy”, so he had family back in Ireland and maybe the family were from Dublin not Carlow or Wicklow. Any help would be much appreciated Annette
