    3. Michael, You will also have to be aware that Hacketstown also comes under Co Carlow As does Clonegal, Clonmore. And Rathvilly but they are part of Co Wicklow. Sorry to muddy the waters but Could I at least suggest that you join the Co Carlow list as well, they are a helpful list they may be able to suggest Things to look at from the internet, but I also cannot say enough times, whatever you glean from the internet be a LDS site or wherever even anything I have posted for instance, it all needs verification, as what the eye sees the hand does not always type or transcribe correctly. I will go into your mail further but wanted to let you know about this first Cara

    3. FYI, for anyone researching the Kelly/Kelley surname from Ireland. The headline started: "Seven Murders" then "For 10 years 'Jolly Jane' poured her poison." It was about Miss Jane TOPPAN, who was born in Lowell in 1857, but not with that name. She was born Honora KELLEY, with Irish-immigrant parents: Peter and Bridget KELLEY. Bridget died of TB, when their 2 daughters were 8 and 6, and Peter took them to the .Boston Female Orphans Asylum. In 1865, "Nora" was sent to Lowell to be an indentured servant for a TOPPAN family. This is not a pleasant story to read. http://www.lowellsun.com/ci_19247994?IADID=Search-www.lowellsun.com-www.lowellsun.com The on-line article doesn't show that it was a front-page article, and it continued on p.4 with a full-page. "Jolly Jane" was convicted of 31 murders, but she later admitted it might have been up to 100 people murdered. In addition to the gory details about how she poisoned so many people, including her years of being a nurse, there are many names mentioned in the article - of the people she murdered. So, if you are wondering how a relative died in the late 1800's and up to 1901, they could have been murdered by this woman. She was finally arrested in 1901 and sent to Taunton State Hospital. She died there in 1938. Just an FYI for you. Betty (near Lowell, MA) And, I've mentioned the FITZGERALD family I tried to create a family-tree for. Around 1915, Michael FITZGERALD and his wife separated, and she remarried to Thomas J. KELLEY and had more children. Last month I was able to find the KELLEY gravestone at the .Cambridge Cemetery. Someone in the family must be still alive as someone is maintaining the stone. (And, I can't remembered whether I've mentioned that I .finally. found the missing "Michael." During 1950's he and his 2nd wife moved to Bourne, MA, and remained there until their deaths. Michael never had more children - even though his wife was 30 yrs. younger than he was. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to MAMIDDLE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    1. [IRL-WICKLOW] James Cunniam (Cunningham) & Mary Moore
    2. Lasairiona Duignan
    3. Hello, I'm new to the list and seeking information about James Cunniam/Cunningham and Mary Moore, married in Glendalough parish 3 February 1833. The same couple (?) had a son Patrick, born 29 March 1840, baptised in Glendalough parish. He married Eliza Boylan 10 May 1869, in Rathdrum. He was then living in Moneystown, though his parents' home is recorded as Mointeagh (probably Moyntiagh). Eliza was living in Trooperstown, though her parents' home was in Golden Ball, Co. Dublin. Her mother was Elizabeth Byrne, *possibly* from the Trooperstown area originally. All suggestions gratefully received! Fíona -- Lasairíona Duignan duignanml@gmail.com

    1. [IRL-WICKLOW] McEvoy family from Rathsallagh/Dunlavin area
    2. Jane Sulllivan
    3. This family has proven VERY elusive. Thomas McEvoy - born c1830-33 joined the RIC in 1853 at the age of 20yrs. Edward Pennefether was listed as his reference, so I am assuming that the family knew/perhaps worked for the Pennefethers?? What I would like to know is if there are any lists of people living in this area during the time period 1820 - 1860. The surnames of McEvoy & Hayden are my main interest. Thomas's parents were David McEvoy & Mary Hayden. His siblings were -Julia, Mary, Ellen & David. Each were bequeathed one hundred pounds when he died in 1909. I daresay that was a large amount in 1909! I have kept posting this info to the list in the hopes that o ne day someone may know the family!! I just keep hoping. Thanks Cara for all the work you have done & are still doing! It is very much appreciated. Jane Australia

    3. Hi Cara I hope you are well. I am back again after suffering a terrible shock of the sudden death in her sleep of my CULLODEN fellow researcher. Rosemary was only 65 and very fit as she lived on a farm in NZ. I have lost touch with her family and do not know the circumstance of her death. This really set me back and together with many many computer problems has taken some time for me to return to researching. I am now going to concentrate on the HIGGINSONs for the time being as thinking about any CULLODENs is still too painful. Many thanks for your info regarding this family name from Blessington - very much appreciated once again. AT LAST Freemans Journal on the 8th May 1819: "At his residence, near Bray, of a few days illness, Henry Higginson, formerly of Eustace street, in this city, merchant, leaving a widow, and large helpless family, in the deepest affliction" Yes he left 10 minor children according to R of D's. ON his wife Anne CULLODENs headstone it says she was the relict of the late Henry HIGGINSON of Killarney Cottage Bray. As Henry went to Bray, Wicklow after his bankruptcy in Dublin I am wondering if there is any connection to the other H's in Wicklow. I would be very grateful if you have any further info. A big hug as usual. 3. There seems to be a bit of a question here ? Have I read the first notice correctly ? As I read the first notice I have the following: 1. Martin HIGGINSON died 18 Sep 1840 age 68 BORN est 1772 Hannah MURPHY daughter of the above Martin HIGGINSON died 12 Apr 1813 age 29 BORN 1784 - father Martin would have been 12 years old. 2. James MURPHY, wife of above Hannah, died 11 Dec 1875 aged 65 BORN est 1810. This makes Hannah 26 years older than James - possible ? It seems to me that there is a mistake in the dates for Hannah ??? I will be interested in everyone's thinking. 3. Hi Cara; It has been a while since I have spoken to you, and it has been hard getting back to the researching since my husband death. I had an E mail from a distant cousin and he was asking about the James family but it appears that none of the O'Donoghue has much information of the James family. If you could help me out on this I would appreciate it. I will send you details later to day.
