I had a donation of Memorial Cards for Clare. It seemed like a neat idea to develop. I know some people in Ireland collect them in Ireland. They often get tossed out when heirs clean up. http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/clare/church.htm If you have any to share, please use our Photo Form so you can upload the image. http://www.genrecords.org/irfiles/photos.html -- Thanks! Dear Listers, For a change the object that I have been asked to research is indeed a solid one, it is an Altar, and it has very little clues to be followed, but do we have any listers on out list who had a woman leave Co Wicklow and come on down to Australia and marry an O'Grady, the name O'Grady does not exist in the parish registers of this parish, and it is not in the graveyard, so I am suggesting the lady left this parish and I do know she is from Australia, when she donates the Altar, to the church, which makes me think her parents also were from this parish,. 1- she is noted only as Mrs. O'Grady 2- time frame is 1900 for the donation 3- She was living in Australia when she donated the altar There has been research done in Wicklow on said altar and nothing was found so now I have the task of simply trying to find who Mrs. O'Grady is or was ....so I join the ranks of What was Mrs. O'Grady's maiden name, I will follow this up by doing a few multiple postings on Australian rootsweb lists. But I thought you may all like to join in the speculation of who the heck is Mrs O'Grady and her parents or grandparents ??/ Curly one yes I have deliberately left the place in Wicklow out of it but in time will reveal that clue also. Hi all and Happy St. Patricks Day I too have relatives buried in this cemetery. Trinity Anglican Cemetery is located just outside the small town of Durham, Ontario. It is just south of Owen Sound located on Georgian Bay. It is a small cemetery which is still in use. Located in a stand of fir trees on a quiet country road and nestled in the rolling hills of the Niagara Escarpment, it is a scene very reminiscent of the Wicklow Hills. It's a fitting resting place for the many Irish immigrants who settled in the area. The old stones are in good repair and most are quite legible. I will likely be in the area this summer and am quite happy to take some pictures. Feel free to contact me off line. Regards, Mary Dinnin Sent from my BlackBerry® PlayBook⢠www.blackberry.com

The is a reference in the following report to swearing an oath "to be true to Moll Doyle" The "Moll Doyles" were one of the many secret societies operating during this period. They were feared by most of the population and considered by many to be robbers and murderers. In Donal McCartney's book "The Dawning of Democracy 1800 - 1870" (page 93) we read for the period 1821 : "A group calling itself the "Moll Doyles" was appearing in arms in Rathvilly, Co. Carlow, and attacking the houses of tenants who had offended against their agrarian code. A gang of thirty or forty had burned a house in King's County, shot a man, driven a bayonet in the eye of a woman and tried to cut out her tongue - she died the next day from her injuries and her mother died a few days later from shock. Hi John: After our last exchange, I finally checked into the pages of the book "The Annals of the Sinnott, and allied families", written by Author: Sinnott, Mary Elizabeth, 1866- from old catalog 1842-1922. It states that James Synnott resided in Castletown and was buried at Kilkevan (sic) under Tara Hill some three miles from Castletown. ( Any possible records that would establish his parents ???) It goes on further , that James married Ann Connor of Ross,Co.Wex. on 17 Jan. 1762. The marriage being recorded at St. Mary and St. Peter, Arklow,Co.Wick. Where the baptism of their children were recorded. ( Any possibility of these records being on line, or on list. ) That being Pierie (sic) 1763, Mary abt.1766 and John 1775, who fought in the 1798 rebellion and was wounded at Vinegar Hill,Enniscorthy. Thomas of this family ( Kilbride age abt 60 ) also served at Enniscorthy during the Insurrection. He led a division of about 1000 insurgents from Co. Wexford, per "Thomas Cloney Personal Narrative" ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Kavanagh" <03031958@eircom.net> To: "'Edd'" <edd73@embarqmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 29, 2012 4:02 PM Subject: RE: [IRL-WEXFORD] location of St. Patrick's RC Church Castletown Hi Edd, I would normally agree, but I can't find any Sinnott's interred in Kilcavan, Inch, Castletown or Kilgorman These are all old cemeteries and are in close proximity to each other. I will look more and see what turns up!
