    1. Hanbidge book reprint
    2. Brendan Dixon
    3. I can't remember if it has been emntioned on the list but a reprint / re-edit has just been printed by UCD Press. Its Memories of West Wicklow by William and Mary Hanbidge. I got a copy and found it a very nice read (it was also special in the its mentions Valentines twice - my area of research). The original also had more family trees and other such information which was updated by Nora Hanbidge a few years ago. A review is here: http://dublin.anglican.org/books/2005/bk050420-hanbidge.html and is stocked by Amazon at http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1904558240/qid=11343 98019/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl/026-6146366-2594022 or can be ordered from UCD Press at http://www.ucdpress.ie/ucdpress/display.asp?K=510000000283478& st_01=hanbidge&sf_01=cauthor&sf_02=ctitle&sf_03=keyword&sort= %24RANK&m=1&dc=1 The Hanbidges have also "launched" their own web site which is still in early days yet. http://www.hanbidge.webeden.co.uk/ Best regards to all for the forthcoming Xmas and New Year Brendan

    3. Hi Sylvia The only Hunters I know about are of the Hunters Hotel (near Ashford) now run by cousins (relations of some sort ) called Gelletlie http://www.irelands-blue-book.ie/hunters.htm They had a son that went to South Africa with a relation I am looking for (Joseph Valentine - Roundwood) around 1900 or so. They joined the South African Constabulary. I belive a second son (Hunter) also joined and at least one was killed there. I have yet to do any research in this area and haven't even confirmed the above on the Hunter side. Don't know if this is any good or even new info.... Brendan. On 11 Dec 2005 at 20:08, Sylvia wrote: > Hi from the wilds of Northumberland > > I have recently joined, and as there has been a burst of activity have been spurred on to post my request. > I would welcome any information or suggestions of where to go next.. > My gggrandfather Isaac Hunter was born in Carnew ~ 1804 ( bit of a shock the family were convinced he came from Scotland). 3. Hi from the wilds of Northumberland I have recently joined, and as there has been a burst of activity have been spurred on to post my request. I would welcome any information or suggestions of where to go next.. My gggrandfather Isaac Hunter was born in Carnew ~ 1804 ( bit of a shock the family were convinced he came from Scotland). This has been confirmed by army records. He enlisted in Dublin in the 28th Foot and ended up in Australia where three of his children were born ( confirmed). He was discharged 1842 and it was presumed he went back to Australia where my ggrandfather was born as he always gave his birth place as Syndey NSW - but I can't confirm this. I was however surprised to find an Isaac Hunter in Griffith's Vauation of Tenements as renting house and land in the parish of Mullincuff 1854. If it was his father he would have been getting on - or did Issac not treturn to Australia and come back to Wicklow after leaving the army ( and did my gGrandfather lie about his place of birth). If you are still with me ...is there anyway of getting any further?. Is anyone looking for Hunters ( not a very Irish name)? My son is marrying an Irish girl in Dublin this summer - so I will be coming over. Is there anywhere I could go to find out further info? Thinks for listening, Sylvia
