    3. Hello Pete, I for one think your knowledge is amazing and even if you goofed, I am sure that all will be overlooked as both Mullaghmore and Mullaghroes are very close in spelling. Only wish that I knew as much about County Cavan as you know about most of Ireland and then perhaps I could find answers to the questions on my great granparents family. I am really saying that I appreciate all the help you give on the Wicklow List and I read your postings avidly as my grandmother came to Australia from Wicklow as did many of her people and all settled around the same areas here but although I have seen Griffiths Valuation where they are listed, I am either too old or not clever enough to sort them all out. 2. Mary at mel1@CDC.GOV writes: << Where in the world (or at least in Ireland) is Mullaghroe or are there really four different Mullaghroe's? >> Mary, With over 60,000 townlands in Ireland, it's not surprising that there are a few duplications <gr>...... any place with a reddish summit on the land would qualify for a Mullaghroe name (that's the meaning of the word). Actually, there are 8 townlands in Ireland with Mullaghmore in the name. I would guess that you used the www.seanruad.com search engine for the townland. If you had selected "Anywhere in field" rather than "Must match exactly" for your search criterion, you would have seen the other four Mullaghroes - which include North and South versions in Co. Cork as well as Mullaghroe Lower and Mullaghroe Upper in Co. Kildare..... which are yours. The adjacent Mullaghroe townlands in Kildare are a couple of miles north of Monasterevin, along the Grand Canal and the R 414 regional road between Monasterevin and Rathangan towns. This places the Mullaghroes about 15.miles NW of Moone and Timolin. Not exactly "next door", but not in Co. Mayo , either !!! .............................................................................. ... Pete Schermerhorn, in the glorious Berkshire hills of western Massachusetts

    3. Good Morning, I'm am so confused and really need some help. Ship manifest shows my ggrandmother as being born in Mullaghroe in 1845. She was Mary Bridget POWELL. She married Patrick CASEY (a railroad man) and they lived all their lives in Timolin and went to school, church in Moone. When I tried to find Mullaghroe it appears to be a town near a lake toward the western coast while Timolin / Moone are on the eastern side. But also, I seem to find that there are actually four places named Mullaghroe. It shows up on listings as being in County Mayo, County Sligo, County Cork and County Meath >........ Where in the world (or at least in Ireland) is Mullaghroe or are there really four different Mullaghroe's? Thanks, Mary Lowrey
