Hi everyone, I haven't had much time to research lately due to family illness but always on the lookout for BYRNE of Wicklow. I have a SYLVESTER BYRNE married to a ROSANNA (ROSE) BYRNE. Not sure if Byrne is her maiden name as well as married surname.I have no more on the above. I need birth death and marriage for the above. Not sure of the parish in Wicklow. I would love to find a list of their children. I do have details of one of the children.. HUGH VESTY BYRNE b. 1777 Wicklow. he married SARAH DWYER in Wicklow. SARAH had parents Philip Dwyer and Mary Dwyer, Sarah had a brother Michael. A son of Hugh and Sarah was named for her brother Michael and accompanied them on the voyage to Australia on the Tellicherry. Hugh was listed as a convict. A daughter was born on the voyage. One son of Hugh and Sarah was left behind in Wicklow with family as they believe the child may not survive the voyage. I have all of the children of Hugh Vesty Byrne and Sarah Dwyer. This family ended up in Sydney NSW Australia and were involved in hotels. I have this info. as well and the descendants. What I have been unable to find is BDM details of Sylvester Byrne, also his wife Rosanna in Wicklow. Information re what parish they lived in. Byrne's I see everywhere, I feel I have searched most places but of course have missed some areas of research that probably sit right under my nose. Any small piece of information could be the key and would be gladly received. regards Paddy

Since I only posted for the first time last weekend do I need to post again for the roll call? Kerry.
Sorry to be among the late listers. Am still searching for any info on Michael Carty b 1806 at Englishtown Rathvilly Co Wicklow to Daniel Carty (mother unknown), married 9 June 1836 in Baltinglass to Margaret Norton born 3 Nov 1818 to Michael Norton (mother unknown) at Portrition Co Wicklow and with two eldest daughters they left via London 26 Sept 1839 aboard barque "Thomas Laurie" as indentured servants of VanDiemensLand company and landed at Circular Head in March 1840. After rearing her family of 12 children, Margaget died 15/1/1865 at Emu Bay Tasmania. Michael died also at Emu Bay on 23 July 1876. Have much to share on their descendants but still to learn something of their lives and of their families prior to their marriage in 1836. David,
Hi Im looking at Wicklow people who moved to Cumberland England to work in the mines and wonder if anyone knows anything about this couple. Jas Ballance 35 and his wife Roseanne 32 are in Harris Villas Arlecdon Cumberland 1881- along wth my Niles family and a Donnelly of mine and a lot of other Wicklow people. Looking at England marriages in Whitehaven dIstrict 1866 Roseannes maden name was BURNS. Im starting to think a lot of Byrnes etc were changed to the likes of Burns once in England Im thinking this Jas Ballance MAY have been baptised RC Arklow 1843 - curtesy of Peggys great baptism records. Ideally I would like to know where in Wicklow either of this couple were before they emigrated, my long shot is that maybe they were in the same place as my John Niles -as I still havent found the baptisms of his younger kids late 1850S early 1860S. carol

Dear listers, sorry to be late with the roll call. Here's what I posted back in 2004, but there's been no progress since then, I'm afraid. 1) Patrick CULLEN b abt 1825, of Ballinavolla, parish of Castlemacadam, s/o George CULLEN of ? Castlemacadam, farmer (mother unknown) Patrick was married 23 May 1845, in the parish church of Dunganstown to Eliza COLE, of Dunganstown, d/o Samuel Cole, huxter Their children: a) Catherine CULLEN baptised 1848, Dunganstown b) John Hanley CULLEN b. abt 1853* (baptism not found) c) Charlotte CULLEN baptised 1863, Dunganstown * (note: states the mother, Elizabeth, was of Kilmurray) 2) John Hanley CULLEN, farmer,* of Eastpark, Newton Mount Kennedy, married 04 August 1873 in Parish church of Rathdrum, Sarah PLUNKET, of Seapark, d/o Thomas Plunket, herder *Note: John was listed as a gardener in 1888 on his daughter's baptism record. (I found out from a lister that Seapark was also known as Magheramore). Their children: a) Elizabeth Ann (Eliza) CULLEN (birth and baptism records not found) m. Ralph 'Samuel' FARRAR, parish church of Rathdrum b) John Thomas CULLEN b. abt 1875 (birth and baptism records not found) d. Jan 1900 Siege of Ladysmith, SA, age 25 c) Sarah Jane CULLEN (my grandmother) b. 30 March 1888, and baptised in the parish church of Rathdrum. Sarah m. William JOHNSTON abt 1911, in Montreal. Rathdrum parish baptism records have been searched from 1830 to 1865 for Cullens, Plunkets and Farrar, which leaves me wondering where Elizabeth Ann and John Thomas Cullen were born/baptised? Sarah Jane's baptism in 1888 was the only Cullen from this family listed in Rathdrum. I would be interested if anyone can fill in more blanks on the following: 1) George Cullen's wife, any other children? 2) Samuel Cole's wife, any other children? 3) Thomas Plunket's wife, any other children? 4) Catherine & Charlotte Cullen - marriage or children? Still looking for family origins and marriage of my g(x2)grandparents: Stephen HAYDEN(c1808) and Margaret CULLEN(c.1810). Guestimated marriage date c1827. According to family lore, either one or both were from Baltinglass Co. Wicklow. They moved to Manchester Lancs. before 1840.
