Peter Is this all the information you have on your Elizabeth Kelly ? ........that she was born in Co Wicklow 1845 did she come ( go ) to Tasmania as a free person or was she a guest of the government I imagine you have done all your Tasmanian side of things but it would be much easier to help if you have anymore information you could list for us For instance have you heard of any towns or townlands that she may have come from. How did she travel to Tasmania and what age was she when she arrived in Tasmania Her religion Did any of her siblings also follow her to Tasmania What did she work at in Tasmania Did they stay in Tasmania ( thats for my interest really) sorry to be such a doom and gloom first post, but its hard to find people with a common name as there would be more than one Elizabeth Kelly in Co Wicklow and its a big county to boot. These headstones photos as they have Irish content would be most appreciated by the IGP Irish Archive site run by Christina Hunt, so I am wondering if you would be prepared to share them with her to put up for future reference for researchers Cheers Cara ________________________________ From: Annie Massey <annie.massey@rogers.com> To: Wicklow list <irl-wicklow@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sat, September 4, 2010 1:31:39 PM Subject: [IRL-WICKLOW] MASSEY, MAHON, HARRIS, ASHWORTH Hello listers: Several of my Delgany, Wicklow Masseys emigrated during the famine. Joyce Thanks for your email. The cemetery isn't that easy to find but if & when we get back to Ireland that will definitely be on the "must see" list. Kevin
Kevin I haven't been back there recently. It was also late in the day when I dropped in there and took just a few photos (all on IGP), and again it was very overgrown. I would be inclined to think that Cantwell's Memorials of Dead would have more or less all the headstones listed. Someone on the List may be able to check this for your family names.and if there are more available, I will take a look next time I am down that way. Best wishes Joyce A question for the list ; A few years ago we visted the old Killiskey Cemetery. It was very overgrown and somebody had just started to hack away at the vegetation. Can anybody report on the present state of the cemetery now and also have any recent pictures been taken of it.
Hi Christina Thanks for the new pictures of Wicklow Parish Cemetery You do a brilliant job for those of us who are not resident in Ireland. A question for the list ; A few years ago we visted the old Killiskey Cemetery. It was very overgrown and somebody had just started to hack away at the vegetation. Can anybody report on the present state of the cemetery now and also have any recent pictures been taken of it. We only found the cemetery late on our last afternoon in Wicklow and have been wondering if any more Keane/Quinn, Rooney, McGiveny, Kelly, names are hidden in that undergrowth. Again thanks for your work on the website. Kevin NZ
Christina Have tried this website but unable to get access ! http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ Is there a problem ? Golding
We have an additional 7 headstone photos just added to Wicklow Parish Church. The new pictures were taken and transcribed by Joyce Tunstead. This is a lovely old cemetery. Worth poking around in. :) To view go to our main IGP Archives page at http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ Pick WICKLOW from the Table of Counties and then Headstones. Enjoy!
