    1. ROLL CALL - RAYMOND
    2. Debby Raymond
    3. I am seeking information on anyone surnamed RAYMOND in Co. Wicklow. The indexes of the (destroyed) Dublin wills and administrations have the following in Co. Wicklow: 1. Edward RAYMOND of Tinnode, Wicklow, just outside Kilteel parish which borders Co. Kildare, a farmer, Administration 1747. 2. William RAYMOND of Kemptstown Co. Wicklow (or should that be Hempstown near Blessington parish?), farmer, Will proved 1777. Later RAYMONDs in Kildare were farmers and also reared horses. These may or may not be related to the Wicklow ones. They were probably Church of Ireland. I would love to know anything more about these people, especially: did they have descendants? From Deb in Queensland, Australia.

    3. Hello Cara; I would be interested in seeing these Indexes are they only Available in Ireland? I wondered if the national library in Ottawa, Canada would have copies? If not we are planning To go to Ireland next year it seems like a long way off. 1. PARISH REGISTERS
    2. Cara_Links
    3. Dear Listers, I have broken the rule I made and have returned to this subject, after discussions with *himself* he has explained to me the 100 euros lookup in the Arklow Parish. What has been put in place is a search fee, but it was put in place so that those requesting a lookup returned to pick it up, they were then given their money back less the fee for the certificate ( I dont know the cost of that ). What had been happening in the past, was a request was made, the volunteer staff were doing the search for the relevant people, and that can take from one day to many hours, and anyone who has done searching will tell you, ( I myself can tell you this is hard work ) and no one was returning for the lookup. This was making the staff tetchy and so this is why the heavy fee has been placed in front of the search. Now the other thing I am learning is that in this area you now have a parish office, there is another in Gorey Co Wexford and there is now one in Avoca, so me thinks this will be the forward thinking of all Clergy to have a front office to do these lookups, which to me makes good sense. I am sorry for leading anyone astray, my intentions were never to do that I acted on what I had been told and did not look into it further until yesterday. SO feel free to discuss your parish registers, and indeed I am not against anyone discussing anything Just be aware that I am held responsible at the end of the day to Roots Web who prefer anything that has to be paid for to be taken off the list.........that is in regards to family research. I hope this has covered my sin CARA

    3. Hi, I have as some of you know been trying to trace my Grandfathers Family, He was Thomas Kavanagh, and His Father was Samuel Kavanagh who married Ellen Reynolds in Arklow R>C Chapel Aug 26th 1872, so I always thought that they had brought the family up in Arklow, but yesterday I received from a ("Cousin" a Descendant of James Kavanagh who built the Fastnet Rock Lighthouse, James was My Great Grandfather Samuels Brother) in Wicklow Town the Wicklow Historical Society Magazine for June 2005, and What did I find when I was reading through, an article all about the boating disaster that happened on 6th August 1905 in the Wicklow Waters just near to Black Castle, and it resulted in two younger Brothers of my Grandfather, a Patrick Kavanagh aged 19 and Lawrence Kavanagh aged 17, were both drowned and it seems the whole town of Wicklow was in grief for the Family. My Great Grandparents wrote to the Local Newspaper of the time, a letter of Gratitude to all those who helped in the search and eventual recovery of the bodies of their two Sons, and they were later buried in Three Mile Water Cemetery just out side Wicklow, were their Grandfather and Mother (My Great Great Grandparents Michael and Mary are also buried.) I would love to find a copy of that newspaper, and I have emailed the Wicklow Library's to ask if they could lead me to finding the paper. But does anyone on the list have any ideas for me Please. It just goes to show though you never know were you may find snippets of information about your Family. Best Wishes to All Gina.

    1. WHATELY/WHEATLEY & WHITE
    2. Greetings from California! And thank you Cara for inviting us to post our interests again! I'm still searching for my gg grandparents William (middle initial T?) WHATELY & Hannah WHITE They married in the Diocese of Ossory in 1833 according to the Family Search site. Their children were Thomas, Elizabeth, William, Catherine, George, Hannah, Deborah, Alice and John, born 1855, who I descend from. The family was Church of Ireland and towns associated with them are Baltinglass, Kiltegan and Kyle where my g grandfather John was born. All of the children but Deborah emigrated to Canada and the US in the 1860s - the parents William and Hannah stayed in Ireland. They owned a farm and today it is supposedly owned by Joe Jackson in Bortlebeg. My grandmother's notes also state there were other WHEATLEYs in and around Dublin. Thank you all for reading this again! Stephanie

    1. ROLL CALL - REVELL
    2. In answer to Cara's roll call, I want to throw out my family names and hope for some new information. In 1848, my great-great grandparents, James Revell and Eleanor (maiden name Brass) Revell sailed on the ship Chester with their ten children (the eldest was my great-grandfather John Revell) and settled in Wisconsin, USA. Some evidence points to their most recent residence in Ireland as in or near Redcross, County Wicklow. Eleanor's Brass antecedents are fairly well documented, but it is unknown which of the many Revells in Wicklow that James was connected with. His birth date was 1803; hers was 1807. We have their marriage date (12 October 1830) and thanks to Cara a baptismal record for eldest son John. The brick wall is the parents of James. If anyone runs across them, please let me know! Thanks. Suzanne Revell USA
