    1. The Fitzwilliam CD
    2. Marion Clare
    3. Sorry I have missed this thread but would be really interested to know where I can purchase this CD. Our relative Michael CLARE was bestowed lands by the 4th Earl so I think this may help to fill in a few gaps. The information I have is recorded as follows. "As was the custom in the period of the British occupation of Ireland, large estates were given to those who the rulers felt had served them well and in 1692 the Earl of Stafford was given a 90,000 acre estate in Co. Wicklow. In 1778 the 4th Earl Lord Fitzwilliam inherited the estate and he gave a tenant farm in Ratheentague to Michael CLARE (b. 1772) when he married Katherine BYRNE of The Hollow, Ballinglen in 1806" Raheentaigue is near Tinahely. Any advice on the location of Ballinglen would also be appreciated. If you think it might benefit me, please would someone tell me where to obtain the CD Many thanks Marion Clare .

    1. Jacob BRADLEY and Martha COUSINS/COUZENS
    2. Kate Boyce
    3. My BRADLEYs are from Co Wicklow, Ireland, and at least five of them migrated to Victoria, Australia between about 1848 and 1862. They are as follows: Jacob BRADLEY, "Gentleman Farmer" m. Martha COUZENS (~1799-1863). Her parents were William COUSINS and Eliza THOMPSON and she migrated to Victoria Australia in 1862 on the Marco Polo, and died in 1863, aged 63, place of birth given as Wicklow. Martha arrived in Australia with her youngest son son Thomas Isaac BRADLEY so it is likely that Jacob had already died. Children listed on Martha's death certificate: 1. William BRADLEY- nothing known - possibly died in infancy 2,Elizabeth Carol BRADLEY b ~ 1832 Wicklow d 1910 Essendon Vic Aust m. [1] Charles JONES in Powerscourt Wicklow 1846, Church of Ireland (I have a contemporary copy of ORIGINAL marriage certificate), [2] Arthur David HARVEY in Melbourne Australia in 1856. Elizabeth and Charles probably emigrated to Australi 1849 on the Mahommed Shah 3. Jacob BRADLEY b Wicklow ~1830 d Melbourne Aust 1895 m Wicklow Sarah Jane BURTON ~1852 . Jacob and Sarah emigrated to Australia in 1853 on the Derry Castle 4. Martha Matilda BRADLEY b Wicklow ~1832 d 1902 Carlton Vic Aust m [1] Melbourne Aust 1853 William Hayles BARTON [2] Vic Aust 1889 Henry HUGHES Martha emigrated to Australia 1852 on the Clifton. 5. Emily BRADLEY b ~1836 - nothing known 6 Joseph BRADLEY B ~1840 Wicklow d 1895 Melbourne Aust m. [1] Catherine LEESON Dublin Jun 1861 [2] 1883 Vic Aust Sarah Ann LANGFORD Joseph and Catherine emigrated to Victoria Australia in 1861 on the Prince of the Seas 7. Thomas Isaac BRADLEY b ~1840 Wicklow d 1915 Clifton Hill Vic Aust m. Louisa BAXTER 1864 Vic Aust Australia. Emigrated to Vic Aust 1862 on the Marco Polo. Something bad was happening to the BRADLEY family in Wicklow. One by one, 5 of the children emigrated, the last being the youngest son, Thomas Isaac, who came with his mother. This suggests that Jacob probably died. Also, when Eliza married in 1846 he was described as a "gentleman farmer" but on some death certificates of his children he is described as "gamekeeper". The famine? Any suggestions would be appreciated, and any connections would be wonderful. Regards Kate Boyce Melbourne Australia ps: while most birth places were simply given as Wicklow, one stated Lough Bray. Then, with death certificates one never knows. The only firm place I have is the Church of Ireland in Powerscourt.

Mullans North and South are between 3 and 4 miles ESE to SE of Hacketstown, Co. Carlow. Alternatively, you could go 2 to 3 miles NNW of Tinahely village/small town. 1. Sullivans from Avoca
    2. Gerry Gorman
    3. Hi!, I am researching my maternal grandmother's Sullivan family. Maria C. Sullivan first appears on the 1881 Census in Govan Lanark Scotland as a domestic servant aged 21. Her employer was a Norman Black and his wife Mildred S. aged 23, Mildred was born in Ireland, a sister of Maria perhaps?. Maria married Patrick Flood, aged 23 from Milford Co. Donegal, in January 1882. The marriage certificate shows her parents as John Sullivan farm caretaker and Hannah Sullivan nee Mulvain. It is believed that they came from Avoca Co. Wicklow. Two children were born in Scotland, one in Newcastle-on-Tyne and the other 9 in Barrow-in-Furness Lancashire. Patrick worked in shipbuilding. I will be grateful for any information. Thanks, Gerry Gorman Melbourne Australia.

    1. BURIALS OF RC AND C of I
    2. Cara_Links
    3. Lets clarify these burials a wee bit please-- to begin with what time frame are we looking at ? are we looking at County Wicklow ? or just Wicklow Town itself? I can assure you that no research should leave any stone unturned therefore a trip to the RCB to check registers of the Church Of Ireland denomination does hold RC Methodist and other denomination burial details.... but you will need to know the name of the person because it does not simply say he was of the RC faith it may say a RC priest was present or a Methodist man presided etc.... And Peter has given you very good advice in his mail but lets clarify a few dates here please. Cara

One by one, 5 of his children emigrated, the last being the youngest son Thomas Isaac who came with his mother. This suggests that Jacob probably died. Also, when Eliza married in 1846 he was described as a "gentleman farmer" but on some death certificates of his children he is described as "gamekeeper". Potato famine? Any suggestions would be appreciated, and any connections would be wonderful. Regards Kate Boyce Melbourne Australia ps: while most birth places were simply given as Wicklow, one stated Lough Bray. Then, with death certificates one never knows. The only firm place I have is the Church of Ireland in Powerscourt.

Cara, you had a list of graves from Old Kilbride which had the name Wolohan on it. Just wondering what name is on that stone, if there is one.
