    3. Thanx, Dave. My question was not as clear as it could be, sorry. I was asking if anyone has heard of a specific county or maybe even a townland as being refered to as Munster. If not than the passengers who refered to Munster on ships passenger lists gave their provense name rather than county. That's probably the most likely case, but hoping against hope, I thought I's ask. 2. Richardson Rai
    3. I am searching for descendents of and information regarding the Joseph NEW and Sarah DILLON Family described below. Joseph NEW, son of William NEW, was born in Wicklow Co, Ireland 25 Mar 1769. He married Sarah DILLON in Wicklow Co, Ireland, 9 Jul 1801. Joseph's father, William NEW, was born in England. He went to Ireland and resided on Myrtle Hill, near Dunganstown Church, his home being known as "The Fly". Joseph was probably born at the "The Fly". Joseph's grandfather's name was also William NEW and he was born in Manchester, England. Joseph NEW and Sarah DILLON had the following children: Garrett, John, William Henry, Margery Marcella, Joseph, and Margaret. For additional information regarding this family see: http://www.gallda.com/new.html Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Rai

    1. Re: [Wicklow] Re: IRL-WICKLOW-DEATHE/TUTTY in ARKLOW
    2. William MacCallum
    3. Hi Fran: Thanks for jumping in. Yes we've corresponded before. It would appear that we have common ancestors but we haven't proven it yet. Like I said, I've counted 7 different William Deaths in the Arklow area in the 1800s. My William and Anne Tutty lived at 37 Tinahask Street Lower in the 1860s and 1870s. Griffiths Valuation lists two William Deaths as head of households in the 1850s - one is probably my William's father - but which one? One lived on Tinahask Lower, so that's a good candidate, but the other lived at Mongan, right beside the Kilcarra cemetery (8 miles from Arklow) where Anne was buried in 1879. There are no Tuttys (her maiden name) buried there, but there are Deaths. So I think it's possible that it was the Death family plot and that my William's father was the William who lived there. Danny Curran of Kilcarra has basically been able to tell me a number of Death families I'm not descended from, so I'm working by "process of elimination". I'm also in contact with Thomas Deathe of Gorey (11 miles from Arklow) who says he is not related to the Arklow Deathes either but he's interested anyway so he's learning what he can on the ground for me. I'll be talking to him again on Monday and may have something new at that time. When exactly was your Thomas Death born and how do you know for sure that his father is the Tinahask Lower William Death on Griffiths' valuation? It would seem unlikely that a man who died in the 1950s had a father who was old enough to be alive and a head of a household in the 1850s. There was another William Death born in 1865 (therefore too young to be on Griffiths') in Kilcarra for example, who might be your Thomas' father. That William's parents were Thomas Death and Anne Reynolds (married 1861). And there are others.... Thanks - we'll get to the bottom of it eventually! Bill Fran harrison wrote: >Hi, there! >I don't know if we have corresponded before but the >Deathes in my line are the ones from Lower Tinahask. >My grandmothers sister, Theresa Lazenby was married to >Thomas Death. 3. Hi, there! I don't know if we have corresponded before but the Deathes in my line are the ones from Lower Tinahask. My grandmothers sister, Theresa Lazenby was married to Thomas Death. I had asked a great aunt in Arklow for genealogy help and she wrote "Tom and Tess Death lived at #12 Lower Tinahask and had no family. Both of them died in the 1950's. Their house is now used as a summer house by a couple from Dublin" Thomas Death actually died on May 5, 1955 and his wife died in 1953. This Thomas Deaths father was William Death who was on Griffith's as living on Lower Tinahask in a home owned by Henry Hodgson, also living there was Henry Pierce. Many of the rest of my Lazenby and Leary families also lived on lower Tinahask. I have more information on the Lazenby and Leary lines but no more on the Deathes. I would appreciate it if you could share some of the earlier information with me. Thanks very much, Fran -----Original Message----- From: William MacCallum [mailto:willmacc@enoreo.on.ca] Sent: Friday, May 05, 2006 11:14 AM To: IRL-WICKLOW-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Wicklow] Re: IRL-WICKLOW-DEATHE/TUTTY in ARKLOW Thanks Peggy. I have this one (my 2greatgrandparents marriage), but nothing before. Anything you have pre-1863 would be greatly appreciated! I have the births of many if not all of their children and Anne's death in 1879. There were many (at least 7) William Deathes in the Arklow area in the 1800s which makes it that much more of a puzzle. It would appear that my William Deathe was the one who lived at Tinahask Lower on Griffith's Valuation in 1852, but this is not proven. What are your "few others"...? Cara - thank you for the thought about Australian Deathes. Although we are not descended from them, they could very well be descended from the Arklow Deathes as we are.
