Hi Cara I am having a hard time with the new style of emails all having the same subject title "Blank Questionnaire" because it means reading the whole email before deleting. I belong to several lists and therefore get lots of emails, so the subject heading is important as I am sure it is to others too. I look at the name or the place and delete if not appropriate. This new way is very time consuming. Could we have the name of the person being searched put in the subject line as well please? I love the list though and find it really informative. Thanks Marion
Hi kate In connection with the Valentines there is a Prestage connection. I have a father William Prestage that had a George. George married in 1856 to a Martha Valentine(she born 1837) . My sincere apologies to all who apparently received a letter which I did address to my friend in Chicago. I feel so badly as I noticed in my Sent box that this letter had somehow been sent to the list. My friends name does not commence with W and how it came to be sent to the list in error, I will never know, but please do receive my apologies. Sincerely, Shirley Parker (Australia)
Dear Mary Jo, I have had such a lot happening here that I have found it hard to keep up with everything but you have certainly been in my thoughts and prayers. I think I told you that the doctor found a deficiency in Vitamin 12 in a blood count and I have done nothing this past week hardly, except to keep running to doctors. My GP wanted me to see Dr.Paul Bird, the specialist re the very bad time I have been having from my left knee and the torn shoulder tendon, but it was a week before I could get an answer from his office and when I did it was to learn that Dr.Bird is overseas and will not be back until Thursday 18 and they have made arrangements for me to see him on Thursday when he returns. Also, I don't think I told you that my 2nd cousin, Russell died last week and was buried on Friday last. I did intend to go down the coast for his funeral but because of the awful pain I have had, rang them and said I could not make same. My other 2nd cousin, Frank Veness, flew from Western Australia with his daughter and her husband and they hired a car at the airport and went straight to Dapto to where Russell had been living with a carer who has been with him since he returned from the Vietnam war as he has been on Dialysis since that time having sustained renal failure through the war. Dapto is about 1hr drive from where we live and of course Frank, Margaret and Stuart went to the home of Russell to await the funeral. They all arrived at my place at 9.30 Saturday morning\and left me some wonderful photos of the funeral service but Margaret was feeling very ill with stomach pains. She just could not get off the toilet for long with awful diarrohea and she was a white as a sheet so Len and I took her to one of the local doctors in Engadine and he said she had a viral infection and gave her medication. Yesterday was Mother's Day and do you know that the only card I had was the beautiful one you sent and I thank you very much for same. Bernard rang me as they were in chaos over there, with Gwen having to go on a school camp with the little girls and had to prepare for same yesterday. Andrew and Kylie rang me and were both very uptight as the little baby has had very bad reflux and causing them to have a lot of loss of sleep and then poor little Mitch is feeling very left out with his Mum having to give the new babe such a lot of attention. I spoke with Kylie and she said Mitchell was being really naughty and she was finding it hard to manage both him and Molly so as he is gone to pre school today, I said Len and I would pick him up on Tuesday and bring him back here for a few days. He is no trouble here and really enjoys being with his Pop and I. Just to finish the weekend up, Frank, Margaret and Stuart came back yesterday and Margaret was feeling much better with the medication and she wanted me not to be worrying about her. Frank is so much like my dad, and I am afraid that I was rather emotional whilst they were here. I do hope that things are better for you now with John's wife, Debbie and all your own health problems. It seems so long since I have had news from you and I look forward to hearing everything as soon as you are able. The Mass at Heathcote was very lovely for Mothers' Day but I think John Briffa must be away because the past two weeks there has been one of the other Salesian priests from Engadine saying Mass. I must give them a ring shortly and find out what is happening. John usually lets me know if he is going to be away. Love and hugs, Shirley & Len
Shirley Parker, Happy Mother's Day to you. Think it best if you wish to sent a message to one individual [rather than to the Wicklow listing] to sent it directly to the email of that person. Hope that all medical problems are/have been handled none-the-less. Godspeed. Hi After getting thoroughly excited by Griffiths Valuation, Im wondering is there anywhere online that I can access tithe book details. I had thought http://www.genealogy.com offered this but cant find reference when looking at the site. Thanks Carol
Hello All, As the list is quiet at the moment I thought I would post my surname interests with the hope that someone else may be researching the following families. NEWBOLD, CHAPMAN, PARKER, COOPER. Most lived in or very close to Wicklow Town in the 1800s. I would love to hear from anyone with any of these names in their tree. Jan, Perth, Western Australia.
