    1. [IRL-WEXFORD] FEVER HOSPITAL question
    2. In the area of Enniscorthy, Wexford, between the years 1845-1849, where would the nearest Fever Hospital be? According to oral family history, my great great grandmother, Mary Ann MURPHY(maiden name COWMAN), "died of the fever" in the area of Enniscorthy. I thought maybe she died at home, but now am wondering if most people who had the fever, went to a Fever Hospital? After she died, her husband, (they were married in 1834) Patrick MURPHY, took their 3 children, Michael, Mary, and Nicholas, to Kingston, Ontario,Canada. Unfortunately, Patrick died aboard ship enroute from Montreal to Kingston. He was buried in Emmigrants Mound on the grounds of Hotel Du (the hospital). The 3 children, being orphans, were taken in by the nuns there. They stayed about a year until their money ran out. Then they were placed with separate families.
