I have 2 sisters, Ellen (abt 1828-1898) and Mary J. Roach (abt 1835-1897) who were born in County Wexford, Ireland. I find Ellen in Mobile, AL married to Matthew Shaw and having a child in 1857 and in 1858 is in New Orleans, LA. Her sister, Mary (my gg-grandmother) married Martin Peterson who died "at sea" before her daughter, Carrie (Caroline) was born in 1869. She never remarried and lived with her sister and her family until her death. Carrie's 25th wedding anniversary write up in the Newspaper lists "Mr. and Mrs. John Roache, who gave away the bride twenty-five years ago." The only thing I can assume is that this "John" was her uncle. But I have been unable to match who he is due to there being 2-3 John Roache's in the area at that time. I do know that Mary and Ellen's parents were still living when they were in New Orleans due to a family picture I have but on the back is written "Grandpa and Grandma Roache"....so I have no names for them.....YET! Ellen Roache was married to Matthew Shaw (uncle to Archbishop John Shaw) and they had 6 children: Catherine (Katie) Sarah Shaw John Matthew Shaw Michael Shaw Mary Shaw Ellen (Nellie) Shaw Margaret (Maggie) Anna Shaw Ellen is the only one that I have found married (to Theodore Dubret) and had children, all in Algiers, LA (New Orleans).
