MARLFIELD, GOREY Townland RAHEENAGURREN WEST Location 1km SE of Gorey Associated families; GORDON, OWEN, MORGAN, STOPFORD ( family name of Earls of Courtown), BOWE History. The house is believed to have been built about 1830, and was occupied for the first few years until 1858 by the agent of the Courtown estate Captain Robert OWEN. It was leased to a MR. MORGAN, a nephew of Mr. PURCELL, the coachbuilder in Gorey for 21 years. MILL HOUSE, FOULKSMILLS Townland RAHEENDUFF Location Foulksmills village Associated famillies; SIR FULKE FURLONG, PURCELL, DAY, REDMOND History; The corn mill was built in 1851, close to an existing mill, and the Mill House was built in 1859. The architect Richard PURCELL, whose name is on a plaque on the wall of the complex, was responsible for a number of other houses in this area and both John and Martin DAY of this family were noted architects. WOODGRAIGUE HOUSE, DUNCORMICK Townland WOODGRAIGUE Location North of DUNCORMICK Associated families; PURCELL, DAY, WALSH, MOONEY, KELLY History; Several families lived here in succession, both as owners and tenants, and it is said the house was built by Richard PURCELL related to, and a work associate of the DAY family from which architects were also involved in the building of MULRANKIN GLEBE, GARRYHACK, MILL HOUSE at FOULKSMILLS and JOHNSTOWN CASTLE.
