Viola and Thom, As one who is now dancing on the far side of bonkerdom, the reason for not giving up on genealogy are multiple and complex. 1. As soon as you do, some kind soul will put the very documents that you have been after for more years than you care to reveal on the web....... 2. The cousin that you never could quite take to will discover that vital piece of data that pulls together three sets of families - and will crow about it! 3. It's worse than nicotine or the booze. 4. You get to converse across the world with such nice, intelligent, like-minded people!! Slan, Mary p.s. Where was Stonybatter?
Could this be your Stonybatter just north of Co.Wexford? (South of Crosspatrick.) http://www.maplandia.com/ireland/east/wicklow/stonybatter/ Otherwise there is Stoneybatter in Dublin.
