I have been searching for Eliza Wilson born 1808 Wexford for years. Eliza was a convict and charged with stealing goods according to the shipping records she came out on the Andromeda 1834 italso stated she had a pearl in her right eye (think this is a cyst). She was single although she had a baby with her. Other convicts on the ship told her to say she was married and of course this was recorded so after she had served her time and she and another convict William Williams (Hooghley 1828) he was from Brecon Wales applied to be married this was refused on the grounds that Eliza had stated she was married I know that they applied at least 3 times and refused each time. Have never been able to find where they married. She was 73 when she died in N.S.W. and still with William If anyone is searching for Wilson I whould really like to hear from them. Marian Hassett
Marian, You left out the most important bit - Eliza's parents. I can see a number of possible deaths in NSW 1875-1885 and all have parent names. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to appear on the Irish Transportation Database, so you can't get much detail on her crime and trial. Perhaps there is some detail in the papers of the Andromeda. Have you looked for them? There may also be something in Colonial Secretary's Papers but those online only go to 1825. I also found her in a submitted family tree at Rootsweb, but no detail on her, only her children and the origins of William who looks to have died aged 102. You may already have contact with the submitter. Peter in Sydney
