Does anyone on this list know if there are any KAVANAGHs from Wexford with connections to the fishing industry in Newfoundland circa 1800 +/- a few years? According to my readings a lot of the early Irish in Newfoundland were from southeast Ireland, namely Wexford, Waterford, Carlow, etc. My ggfather, Jeremiah Kavanagh, was born about 1809 in Nfld. and was a ship's pilot in St. John's as was also his brother Morgan. I have been unable to find any records that will make a connection to Wexford but have been told this is a likely place. I have been a member of the Kavanagh family clann for years but they mostly concentrate on Co. Carlow. Its a beautiful place but I didn't feel 'at home' there.
