Could I reverse the enquiries that come from the US and ask how would you research into family living in New England in the early 1700s? We have an ABRAHAM BUSHNELL, son of Stephen Bushnell and Temperence Warren, born 7th Jan 1745 died 1832. He lived in Smithington then Canaan, Litchfield County, Connecticut before moving to Starksboro, Addison County, Vermont. He married in Jan 1770 a MARY ( Molly ) ENSIGN, born 11th July 1751 in Connecticut. She was the daughter of John Ensign and Mary Sedgwick. John Ensign's father was another John Ensign. As far as I know all were farmers. The information comes from our American family but the person who had all this is now dead and I would love to be able to push the generations back a bit if at all possible. I have been told that if you do have family in New England during this time frame, there are records to help research - only I live in the UK!! What would be the best way of trying to find out more? All suggestions gratefully received. Mary
